Our General manager at CMC (Sergio Cardenas) had a great idea this year that involved helping others. Providing Christmas for a group of young unweed mothers and their babies in the small town of Acuna Mexico. Acuna is just across the Texas border at Del Rio. Mr. Dennis Carroll gave up his cushy sales management job some 15 years ago to move his family to Del Rio TX to set up a shelter for troubled pregnant Mexican teens. Over the past 15 or so years he has profoundly altered the otherwise bleak futures of somewhere around 140 young ladies, not to mention their babies. I met Mr. C in the spring of 2009 and that experience forever changed my life. This man is absolutely incredible and has a true heart for helping these girls and their babies. Many of the girls have gone on to find great jobs like being a nurse or a police officer. His rules are strict but fair and all done with Love.
Early Saturday Morning we headed to Acuna with a truck load of gifts for the ladies and there Babies. We visited with the young ladies, Mr. C as well as his house mother Yolanda. We played with and held the babies and Jacob even did a little entertaining showing off his Magic skills. They loved that.
As you reflect on Christmas and why we celebrate it I encourage you to do something for someone less fortunate than you. You won’t regret it I promise. Merry Christmas Bill
